Strategic Communications I

This is a two-part workshop that focuses on effective strategies for communicating to the publics as well as internally within an organization. Communication on the surface might seem like commonsense, but nuances and different perspectives can shape messages to have markedly more success or undesired outcomes. Participants will look at a variety of messages to identify what works and what doesn’t, and discuss persuasive strategies to help them gain and maintain support from the community. Participants will also work on identifying audiences to be able to tailor messages to make the most impact. By taking a critical look at media and rhetoric, we can become responsible and effective communicators, ourselves – ready to tackle the next marketing venture, fundraising goals, lobbying initiative, or public awareness campaign.
