Scott's Pay It Forward Fund

A donor advised fund set up by Scott Ellis's family in his memory.

Scott Ellis was born January 17, 1982 and grew up a healthy and active young man. At age 11, he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a solid mass cancer that commonly invades the large bones of young adults. The treatments and the medications took it’s toll on Scott’s body each time the cancer returned. In September of 2009, Scott went home to be with the Lord. He loved his wife and family well and accomplished much in his 27 years. The purpose of the Scott’s Pay It Forward Fund is to keep Scott’s spirit alive and honor his wishes to help and support others who find themselves in the same struggles that he experienced in his 16 year battle with cancer.

In December of 2010, Scott’s family made the decision to partner with the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, a regional community foundation providing professional staff, fund management and investment expertise to donors and member community foundations in rural Illinois. This partnership frees Scott’s friends and family to pursue the original mission of the perpetual fund without the burden of the administrative details now handled by the community foundation.
