Southeastern Illinois COVID 19 Relief Fund

Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, in partnership with Lumpkin Family Foundation, has established a Southeastern Illinois COVID-19 Relief Fund to grant resources to established community-based organizations that are directly supporting local residents and families who are most affected by emerging health, economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The relief fund will quickly deploy resources to nonprofits, schools and units of government that are serving individuals in need of:

  • Emergency food and basic supplies
  • Interim housing and shelter
  • Primary health care services 
  • Mental health care services 
  • Mortgage/Rent and Utility assistance 
  • Supports for children and families affected by school closings, and 
  • Nonprofit safety and operations assistance

How will the Southeastern Illinois COVID-19 Relief Fund be managed?

This fund will be overseen by a Fund Advisory Committee that will include community advisors, philanthropic leaders and representatives of local units of government. The Committee is still being finalized and will be announced soon.

What counties in southeastern Illinois will be served by the Fund?

Grants may be made to nonprofit organizations, schools, or units of government located in or significantly serving southeastern Illinois: Coles, Effingham, Cumberland, Jasper, Crawford, Clark, Shelby, Richland, Lawrence, Fayette, or Clay counties.

I/My family have been impacted by COVID-19. How will this Fund help me?

While the Fund is not able to provide grants to individuals, we will be funding community-based organizations that have experience and a history of providing individuals and families with services and support. My organization is interested in resources from this Fund. Can we be considered?

Potential grant recipients must demonstrate a need for funding due to the pandemic or the impact of following public health recommendations taken to flatten the curve of COVID-19 infections locally.

Is there a fee to donate?

Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation will receive no administrative fee from this Fund. If you choose to donate online, there will be a small credit card processing fee that you can choose to cover.

I want to donate. Can I restrict my gift to a specific organization?

To ensure we move resources as efficiently as possible and respond to the needs of communities most impacted, the Fund is not considering restricted donations at this time. The COVID-19 Relief Fund was created in hopes of providing a way to coordinate as many resources as possible.
