University of Illinois Dorothy Stier Memorial Scholarship Endowment

The University of Illinois Dorothy Stier Scholarship Fund was established in March 2013 to provide students with assistance in pursuing higher education. This scholarship is open to any female graduate of Effingham or St. Anthony High School planning to attend the University of Illinois, Champaign. The fund was started with a $3,088.87 donation from the PEO Sisterhood Chapter NF, of which Dorothy Stier was a past member. The endowment was created by Dorothy’s husband, John Stier, who will also contribute to the scholarship fund intended to perpetuate educational opportunities to young women pursuing a degree from the University of Illinois.

In addition to an application, those students pursuing the scholarship must complete an interview with the members of the PEO Sisterhood Chapter that serve on the selection committee. The selection committee members are chosen each year by the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation.
