Tiffany Beccue and Maria del Rocio Carrillo Quijano were named recipients of the 2016 Diane Siemer General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Scholarship. This is the third year that both recipients have received the scholarship.

Beccue received her GED in April 2012 and has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship to attend Lake Land College. Beccue received her LPN and is currently studying to become a registered nurse.

Carrillo-Quijano received her GED in September 2013 and is receiving a $2,500 scholarship to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where she plans to continue her education in the nursing program.

The purpose of the Diane Siemer Scholarship Fund is to perpetuate higher educational opportunities by providing scholarships to GED graduates in Effingham County. The scholarship was established by Diane’s family in honor of her long career in education working with individuals to earn their high school diploma by completing the GED test.
