The Eagle for Life Foundation announces day of giving to support Jasper County schools

The Eagle for Life Fund Advisory Committee is excited to announce that it is hosting the Eagle for Life Day of Giving on Friday, March 23. Over the course of 2017, Eagle for Life raised $8,000 for new mats in the NCHS gymnasium. Now, the fund advisory committee is switching gears with a new strategy to fundraise: a 24-hour day of giving. The concept is simple: plan one 24-hour period to rally support and raise money for a cause. The giving day model encourages community support, increases an awareness of a project, and encourages individuals to make contributions of all sizes. For Eagle for Life, the goal is to raise $15,000 in one day. The funds raised on that day will go to Newton Elementary School for the purchase of a new sound system for the gymnasium and will contribute to the purchase of new playground equipment.

The Eagle for Life School Improvement Fund Advisory Committee accepts funding requests from Jasper County Unit School District 1 teachers and administration on an annual basis. The decision to fund two projects was, in this instance, an easy one. “We thoughtfully reviewed each application and decided that we were capable of raising money to complete one project and contribute to another,” explains Mitch Bierman, founder of the Eagle for Life Foundation. He adds, “The elementary school’s sound system is more than a decade old and has limited capabilities to adjust to current needs and technologies. The new sound system will be similar to the NCHS sound system and will allow the elementary gym to be used for a variety of events. As for our second project, we have decided to contribute to the cost of new playground equipment at the elementary school. Our PTO has done a great job of raising funds for this playground equipment and we want to help them cross that finish line.”
